Variety Vintage Mexican Milagros Twenty-five Start Price USD 55.00 Current Price USD 65.88 Time Left - Bid Count 6 Buy It Now Price USD 60.00 Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, July 21, 2008 End Time Monday, July 28, 2008 Location Bolingbrook, IL See more about 'Variety Vintage Mexican Milagros Twenty-five' Description Milagros are tiny votive offerings (ex-votos) representing a request for a favor or to give thanks for one granted.  They are directed towards Christ, the Virgin or a saint depending on what the supplicant is praying to request/thank.  The exact significance of a milagro (miracle) is only known to the person who asked for the favor (and of course, the saint).The image (heart, leg, person, eye, etc.) symbolizes the problem or concern of the petitioner and was hung in the church.  In Mexico, milagros are made of copper, lead, silver, gold, brass, tin, pewter or bronze.   Some are alloys dipped in silver or gold to look more valuable.  The 25 Mexican Milagros in this auction are vintage, estimated to be at least 50 years old, some older.  Many have the original ribbon used to attach them.   The largest is 1-1/2" by 1-3/16".  None have been cleaned.  They were acquired in Mexico City from a private collection in June 2004.  They had been in storage for over 20 years.  These are authentic, used folk art pieces.  The auction is for the twenty-five pieces shown in the photo.Payment due at auction end using PayPal (to be mailed to confirmed address only).  Buyer pays $4.00 for USPS First Class Mail insured.  Illinois residents to pay 8.50% sales tax.  We are happy to combine shipping on our auctions.  Please see photos, read the description and ask any questions before bidding.  No international bidders.
