This is one of three rare Pre Columbian items we have currently listed that were obtained by us from the noted Polynesian scholar and author Dr. Terence Barrow who had received them as a gift in the 1960's from the famous Thor Heyerdahl of Kon Tiki Fame. Measuring 9 1/4" in height and mounted on a custom museum stand, this epic bone flute is carved with a Parrot terminal and three parrots on the shaft. It is also inlaid with shell and turquoise and is a true museum piece of unquestioned quality. Completely out of our main area of expertise this flute is being listed like all of our auctions without any reserve. We did see a similar flute turn up at a major auction house a number of years ago that realized $5,800 so good luck when bidding.
