A most powerful  & formidable mythological figure, Garuda is depicted as half man & half bird, & is the vehicle of choice for Vishnu. Masterfully carved from deeply grained jackfruit wood, the sculpture is nothing short of extraordinary in its highly ornate & detailed work. Note that every detail & nuance is hand-carved... nothing is hidden by paint — a further testament to the artistry & skill of the carver who created this masterpiece. The wood has aged beautifully to a rich honey-toned color. . Measuring a towering 33.5-inches in height, this imposing statue is in very good overall condition. There are a few minor imperfections & repairs, none of which detract from the dramatic display of this immense sculpture.
