The deep carving is an excellent example of art from this area. It carries all the stigmata of decades of use, handle has been broken ages ago, and it has been painted several times using trade paint, layers of yellow, red and then green are evident. It is of course possible to commission a restorer to remove the paint, but I think it is part of the rich history of this artifact.  Lake Sentani became famous when Pierre Loeb commissioned Viot for an expedition there in 1929.  Dimensions :  height 56 cm , top 14 cm diameter, bottom 16 cm diameter.
