The top and bottom are pierced and bound with rattan binding. Cowrie shell wealth is inset in the center and top region. The shield has been used for fighting and has approximately 15 embedded arrow points in it (some can been seen in the photo below). There’s an attached fiber handle on the center as well as a vertical sling strap on the left side.
